With a quiet resource center to meet in, you’ll be sure to feel comfortable, and hopefully leave with more information than you came with.

What is patient navigation? Is there a difference between a nurse navigator and a lay-navigator?

  • Certified by national accreditation group.

  • Most medical questions cannot be answered.

  • Supplemental/holistic approaches to healing

 

Lay-Navigator (Available here at BCN)

  • Certified RN.

  • Medical questions can be answered.

  • Assists with side effect management.

  • Assists with medical barriers to care.

While they have different qualifications, both types of navigator(s) assist with:

  • Providing education in a manner that is suitable for the patient.

  • Intimacy and sexual health discussions.

  • Mental health and wellness support

  • Resource sharing

  • Assists with barriers to care such as:

    • Transportation to and from appointments

    • Financial assistance/copay assistance

    • Childcare/ eldercare
