BCN in Buffalo … Starting September 2023
The Breast Cancer Network of WNY Board of Directors has some very exciting news to share with you. We are moving!!! That’s right, after 13 remarkable and memorable years in the Bella Moglie building, it’s time to make a change.
Beginning in September, BCN will be located in the United Way building at 742 Delaware Avenue right in the middle of Millionaire's Row. It's a beautiful building with a huge parking lot, public transportation access, and all the amenities we could ask for. The United Way has provided us with private spaces for offices, a resource center room, and another large room for classes. In addition, we will have access to common space throughout the building including the Board Room (where we will hold our monthly Learning Series programs), conference rooms (for support groups and meetings), kitchen/lunch room, and outdoor green space.
We are all very excited about the new location as it puts BCN right in the heart of Buffalo's Preservation District where some of our new neighbors will include Child & Family Services, Catholic Charities, American Red Cross, BPO, Jewish Community Center, International Institute of Buffalo and of course, the United Way. We will also be within a mile of Roswell Park and Buffalo General Medical Center which we anticipate will help increase the number of referrals we get from them. The centralized location and public transportation access will allow more people to participate in our programming. On top of all that, we will be saving close to 50% of our building costs (rent and utilities) with this move..
This decision was not made lightly. Bella Moglie will always hold a special place in all of our hearts. However, as time goes by, we recognize the limitations of Bella’s location and financial impact of its rising costs. Bella Moglie will always be a part of BCN and we intend to honor that tradition in the new location.
We intend to continue our current schedule of classes, book club, support groups, and Learning Series and are working on improving and expanding our programs as well. We will also continue with the hybrid model of live and virtual programming in order to be accessible to as many people as possible. Be on the lookout for details on our “BCN in Buffalo” unveiling and open house on Saturday, September 30th.
You have all been an important part of BCN in the past and we look forward to your continued support as BCN takes its next step toward being the leading breast cancer organization in WNY for community, education, and support.
Here are some photos of our new home and we will be posting more as we go.
