Help for today with Hope for tomorrow 2023 Appeal Campaign

Help for today with Hope for tomorrow …

For the 1,450 women in WNY who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year, those words offer strength and encouragement as they face the uncertainty of a breast cancer diagnosis. At the Breast Cancer Network of WNY, help for today with hope for tomorrow are more than just words. It’s our mantra, and with your support, it’s what we do …

Help for today comes in many different ways. It starts with our TLC Tote resource and information program which is designed for people newly diagnosed with breast cancer. It continues with individual peer counseling, professionally facilitated support groups, social opportunities, a resource center filled with information and support, and much more.

Hope for tomorrow is what all breast cancer survivors are encouraged to have and to foster. Our monthly Learning Series educational programs empower survivors to learn to take charge of the things that can make a difference in their health and lifestyles. And our comprehensive Restorative Health Classes deliver several weekly opportunities to apply that knowledge and new found empowerment, toward reducing the risk of recurrence and just feeling better.

We all know someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. When 1 in every 8 women in America are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, it’s hard not to know someone who has been given that devastating news. And unfortunately, the rate of diagnosis is even higher in Erie County.

Every dollar donated to the Breast Cancer Network of WNY stays right here in Western New York to support our moms, sisters, aunts, wives, friends, and neighbors who are living in the aftermath of a breast cancer diagnosis. Our work is focused on educating, supporting, and advocating for all people in WNY who have been impacted by breast cancer and on educating people about the importance of early detection. It’s important work and we are here to do it. To learn more about who we are and what we do, please visit bcnwny.org.

This year BCN has undergone significant changes in order to better benefit the breast cancer community of Western New York including:

  • Eliminated the $40 annual membership fee so that more people can participate in BCN programs

  • Made 100% of our programming FREE to all Western New Yorkers impacted by breast cancer

  • Relocated to 742 Delaware Avenue to make our programming more accessible to more people

  • Expanded programming to the Southtowns

  • Provided over 50 support groups, 300 restorative health classes, and 10 Learning Series programs

  • Presented the 2nd Annual Day of Renewal for over 50 survivors

  • Presented over 150 newly diagnosed women with a TLC Tote filled with resources and information

  • Donated $10,000 to metastatic breast cancer research

Our goals for 2024 are to increase the number of people receiving our support and to be more active in early detection education as well as advocacy and public policy pertaining to breast cancer.

Please consider making a donation to us and our cause. It can be in memory of a loved one lost or in honor of a survivor you know. It can even be just because you feel in your heart that it’s the right thing to do.

Thank you for your generosity and support of local breast cancer patients and survivors.
