Host a Fundraiser

A great way to make a difference this month is to host a fundraiser in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  It doesn’t have to elaborate.  Many people do fundraisers at work.  A few ideas include:

  • Having employees pay for a “dress down” day.
  • Have a good old fashion bake sale.  Have it at work, place of worship or any place where you have a large group of people.  Ask others to make baked goods and sell them!
  • Sell ribbons.  This works well if you work in a retail setting with customers coming in and out.  You can sell paper ribbons, have customers sign them and hang them up around your business throughout the month.

There are a ton of other ideas on internet.  If you’d like help coming up with a fundraiser, please contact us.

There are many worthy organizations that support breast cancer patients and survivors.  Many of these organizations do amazing things on small budgets.  A great way to show your support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to make a monetary donation to a breast cancer charity. Before you donate, do some homework though.  You want to make sure your money is going to HELP women through their journey with breast cancer.  Many larger charities have high administrative costs that eat up donations, so if you really want to make a difference, research the charity before you donate to make sure your dollars will be well spent.

Many non-profits focused on breast cancer have volunteer opportunities.  If you don’t want to or can’t make a monetary donation, consider donating your time.  To a non-profit, manpower and brain power is just as important and monetary donations.

 Attend a Fundraiser

Showing your support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month can be fun!  If you don’t want to host a fundraiser, attend one!  Throughout October there are many fundraising events to support breast cancer awareness so find one and attend!  We have a number of things going on this month, check our calendar for details.

The popularity of Breast Cancer Awareness Month has put breast cancer at the forefront of many people’s minds.  That is always a great thing.  If you really want to show your support AND make a difference, keep wearing your pink and try one of the things we mentioned above!

I had a friend with breast cancer and luckily she survived her treatment and she is doing a lot better. It made me really want to help people going through that. I wanted to look up what I could do. That is a good idea to donate to a charity! You are right that I should do some research first. I would want my money to help them out! Thank you for all the great information and tips!
