Adopt-A-Family Program

Purpose: 
To assist breast cancer patients currently undergoing treatment and are experiencing financial difficulties due to their disease.


To be eligible:
  • person must be diagnosed with breast cancer
  • person must live in one of the eight counties of Western New York (Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, Genesee, Allegany)
  • board members and general membership are not eligible (including spouses, children and descendants)
  • person must prove financial need by providing the following information:
    1)  copy of most recent tax return or W2 form
    2)  letter explaining need
    3)  receipt of bill/bills needing payment (utility, medical co-pay, pharmacy, etc.)
    4)  additional information may be requested on an as-needed basis

A committee of the Breast Cancer Network of Western New York receives referrals for the program and makes determinations according to the above stated requirements.  Each person may apply for up to, but not exceeding $500.00.  A total of $2,000.00 is designated for this program each year.

TLC Totes Programs


Designed to assist women who are newly (within the past six months) diagnosed with breast cancer. 

Each tote contains pertinent information aimed at assisting newly diagnosed women in their treatment decisions and recovery.  Also included are comfort items to help ease the difficulty of treatment and advice from breast cancer survivors. Also now available, a tote designed for  those experiencing a recurrence.
